Pair whisky with cheese at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society
Ice or water might be your usual accompaniments with whisky – or, of course, nothing at all. But you could be missing out.
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society runs whisky and cheese pairings at its Edinburgh Queen Street location, where you can try three Scottish cheeses from I. J. Mellis, along with three of the Society’s whiskies. The drams are introduced by the Society’s ‘ambassadors’ – whisky experts, trained in delivering tastings.
The next event is on 4 February, from 7-8pm. However, they are run weekly, so if you miss out on this one, there are more to come, on 11, 18 and 25 February, and beyond.
To give an idea of some of the cheeses that might be available, St Andrews Farmhouse Cheddar, Hebridean Blue and Clava Brie have featured recently. The selection changes seasonally, though.
The selection of whiskies changes from tasting to tasting, but the Society aims to provide a variety of flavour profiles.
The cost to attend the 4 February event is £30 per person, for members and their guests. The cost for non-members is £35.
