Getting out of town to the peace and quiet of the countryside is often top of the wish list for a romantic break.
Over the Border, in a picturesque Northumberland village, The Kirkstyle Inn is offering a 10-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu, with an optional wine pairing and a glass of fizz on arrival.
The Inn has attracted a number of accolades and awards, including three AA Rosettes. Recent dishes on the menu have included pheasant pie with smoked bacon and onion; duck with beetroot, celeriac and mushroom; and dark-chocolate mousse with caramel and hazelnut.
Fish is sourced mainly from the Northumberland coast and the river Tyne, and the Inn’s sourdough bread is freshly made on-site.
As well as the restaurant and a pub, the Inn has four bedrooms, in addition to The Old Rectory, a neighbouring cottage, which sleeps 12 guests.
The Valentine’s Day tasting menu costs £125 per person.
