Tayport Distillery tours

Having guests to stay, especially from abroad, means coming up with a list of interesting places to take them. But when you’ve done the tourist sights of Edinburgh, where do you go next?

The answer is often to get out of town – and whether your guests are seaside lovers, fine-dining fans or golfers, there’s plenty for them to enjoy in Fife.

Another option is to introduce them to the region’s local produce – in the form of a distillery tour.

There are quite a few distilleries in Fife to choose from, including award-winning Tayport Distillery, which offers tours on Saturdays at 3pm, for £20 per person.  Visitors get to hear the story of the family-run distillery, and to try at least four drinks, from its range of gins, vodkas and liqueurs.  Bear in mind that there needs to be a minimum of four people booked, for each tour to go ahead.

Tayport, which launched in 2017, has a focus on sustainability and community. Its products are created from fruit and grains supplied from local farms. After use, grains are recycled, and botanicals are also subsequently made into compost for local planting projects.

The range of spirits produced includes malt-barley vodka, raspberry liqueur and blackcurrant liqueur, as well as Scots-pine gin, wild-rose gin, coffee liqueur and a spiced rum. There’s also a gift shop, for visitors looking to buy what they’ve tried - or other intriguing tipples from the distillery's selection.
