Port-tasting event in Edinburgh
The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto (IVDP) is bringing its expertise in port wine to Edinburgh on 28 October, with a 90-minute seminar combining expert-led tasting and food pairings.
The free event, for those looking to deepen their knowledge of one of Portugal’s most distinctive wines, will be held at the Hotel du Vin, from 10-11.30am.
Led by Manuel Lima, head of tasting chamber at IVDP, the seminar will explore different styles of port and how they can work with food. Guests will each try six port wines. No previous knowledge of port is required.
Gilberto Igrejas, IVDP president said: “Many people think they know port, but there is much more to discover. Port is not only a wine for the end of a meal or for special occasions. These seminars are an invitation to set aside familiar assumptions and discover its diversity with fresh eyes.”
The seminars will also take place in London (26 October) and in Birmingham (27 October).
