Social-housing specialist delivers 100 new, affordable homes

Sanctuary Scotland has announced the completion of 100 new, affordable homes at The Crossings in South Queensferry, marking a major milestone as it delivers its first development in Edinburgh.
Delivered in partnership with national housing specialist Lovell Partnerships, the 100 homes at Builyeon Road comprise 64 two-bedroom flats, 16 two-bedroom houses and 20 three-bedroom houses, and form part of a wider 398-home masterplan. The development also features spectacular views over the iconic three bridges.
All 100 properties achieve an EPC B rating and feature photovoltaic panels to help reduce energy demand and keep fuel costs lower for residents. They have also been built using an offsite-manufactured timber-framed system made with sustainably sourced materials.
Gillian Lavety, development director for Sanctuary Scotland, said: “These high-quality homes fitted with energy-saving products will provide much-needed affordable housing for people and families in South Queensferry, while helping to create a sustainable and well-connected new community.

The milestone was marked on Wednesday 26 August by a visit to The Crossings from representatives of Sanctuary Scotland and Lovell, alongside members of the Queensferry & District Community Council, who toured the development and met residents in their new homes.

“Developments like this are about far more than the homes themselves. They’re about creating places where people want to live and where communities can grow. We would also like to thank Queensferry & District Community Council for its ongoing engagement and for sharing local insights throughout the project.”
The wider masterplan has been shaped around 20-minute neighbourhood principles, with active travel links to the Southern Woodland Walk and Dundas Estate Park, alongside cycle storage, electric-vehicle charging facilities and access to a car club.
Anne Mitchell, health & wellbeing convenor, Queensferry & District Community Council, said: “I was delighted to officially open the development and meet the residents. Moving into a new home is a significant milestone and I hope everyone settling in at The Crossings enjoys all that this wonderful community has to offer. We warmly welcome them to South Queensferry and wish them every happiness in their new homes.”
Local resident, Suzanne Maclean, said: “My first impressions are absolutely wonderful. The build quality feels incredibly solid, safe and beautifully put together. I would rate the design and finishes 10 out of 10, and the layout is bright, spacious and perfect for my everyday needs, with stunning views.
“What I value most is how dry, warm and highly accessible the property is. It provides a genuinely safe environment for my health.
“The South Queensferry location is absolutely beautiful, quiet and peaceful. It is also very convenient, with great local amenities nearby, lovely walks and easy access to the motorway.”
