LYLA, the Michelin-starred restaurant from chef and founder of Aizle Hospitality Group, Stuart Ralston, has been awarded a Michelin key in the 2026 Michelin Hotel Guide for Great Britain and Ireland, recognising the exceptional experience offered by its newly launched four-bedroom accommodation in Edinburgh.

Michelin’s criteria for one-key Michelin hotels include service that goes “the extra mile”, offering more than other hotels in its price range and fitting the description of a “true gem with personality”.

The prestigious award comes just months after LYLA expanded beyond its Michelin-starred dining room to introduce four individually designed bedrooms within its Georgian townhouse on Royal Terrace.

LYLA's four bedrooms, named Aster, Linden, Samphire and Purslane, were designed in collaboration with Glasgow-based Scarinish Studio. Each room draws inspiration from edible coastal plants, combining the townhouse's original Georgian grandeur with contemporary Scottish craftsmanship. High ceilings, detailed cornicing and sash windows sit alongside lime wash, bouclé, velvet and marble, with textiles from the Isle of Bute and lighting by Tom Dixon.

Guests are welcomed with an aperitif and snacks, before retreating to their rooms to enjoy Krug Champagne and caviar. They can also experience Stuart’s 10-course Michelin-starred menu in the open kitchen, followed by breakfast delivered to their room, featuring homemade croissants, banana chocolate miso muffins, Lock Etive sea-trout gravlax and apple shiso juice.

Dinner starts from £185 per head. Overnight stays for two including dinner are £715, while room-only rates begin at £345, with both including breakfast.

Other Scottish hotels receiving their first Michelin key in 2026 included The Torridon, in the Highlands and the Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews.
