Coffee-shop Blank Street is opening its first shop in Scotland, in Victoria Street, at 6.30am on Saturday 25 January.

This will be Blank Street’s thirty-ninth location in the UK, having opened stores across London and in Manchester. The first outlet opened in Brooklyn, in August 2020, in the form of a coffee cart, since when the chain has expanded into many more locations across the US.

Blank Street said that it was opening the store in response to local demand.

It added that this was just the first of its Scottish stores, with more planned for Edinburgh, as well as in Glasgow. The second Edinburgh outlet will open on Princes Street on 6 February, followed by the Glasgow coffee shop in March.

Some of the drinks on offer include white-chocolate matcha and blueberry matcha, as well as classic flat whites. The move into Scotland coincides with the launch in the UK of Blank Street’s ‘daydream’  – a proprietary blend of vanilla bean, honey and cinnamon, served with either latte or matcha.

Commenting on the opening of the Victoria Street shop, Ignacio Llado, co-founder at Blank Street said: “We are so excited to open our first store in Scotland, right in the heart of Edinburgh. At Blank Street, we believe that life is about finding joy in life's everyday moments, and we hope to be able to do that with every cup of coffee or matcha, in what is, perhaps, the most beautiful Blank Street location to date."
