The Signet Library extends partnership with Heritage Portfolio
Heritage Portfolio, part of Sodexo Live! has announced the extension of its partnership with The Signet Library, for a further 12 years. The partnership has been in place for more than 25 years to date.
The new contract includes investment from Heritage Portfolio to enhance the historic building. The upgrades include the installation of a new lift, which will provide step-free access to the building's Upper Library event space for the first time. Work will begin in spring 2027. This installation forms the first phase of a broader plan to introduce two lifts throughout the building over time.
Elsewhere in the building, investment into improving the efficiency of the kitchen and service area will result in a transition from gas cooking to modern induction hobs.
Other upgrades will be made to service equipment, silverware and refrigeration capacity. Potential enhancements such as new carpets, painting and energy-efficient LED lighting are also under consideration.

Commenting on the new contract, Robert Pirrie, chief executive of the WS Society, which owns the Signet Library, said: “We are delighted to have extended our contract with Heritage Portfolio, enabling further capital investment to enhance the hospitality experience at the Signet Library.
“Over the last 25 years, we have worked together to make this one of Scotland’s most prestigious venues. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this sumptuous and most charismatic of venues.”
Heritage Portfolio partners also include Musselburgh Racecourse, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, National Galleries Scotland, V&A Dundee and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
