One of Edinburgh’s best-known landmarks, The Dome, has won the restaurant of the year (casual dining) award, in the 2024 Scottish Licensed Trade News awards.

The Dome reported that some of its most popular casual-dining dishes include its whipped chicken-liver parfait and its ‘classic’ fish and chips. It has recently added beef tartare, as well as oysters and other seafood to the menu.

Commenting on the award, general manager, Gavin Ruthven said: "The team has worked extremely hard over the past few years.

“From the initial booking to the final goodbye, we strive to provide the highest level of customer service.”

The Dome opened as a restaurant and bar in 1996 on the site that was originally the location of the Old Physicians' Hall in 1775. It has become a draw, not just for its food, but also for its decoration during the festive season.

Gavin said: “The Dome is the most photographed building in Scotland at Christmas time. Guests come from all over the world to experience its magic, and our team works tirelessly throughout the year to make each year bigger and better than the last.”
