The Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards ceremony was held on Friday 28 August at the Peebles Hydro Hotel, where 12 winners were announced.
The event brings together a wide range of small, micro and medium-sized businesses in a celebration of the efforts of local firms over the past year.
It was organised by the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce (SBCC), led by chair Trevor Jackson and engagement manager Roz Haughey, and was attended by representatives from other Scottish chambers of commerce, as well as South of Scotland Enterprise, the South of Scotland Destination Alliance and a host of other organisations from across the country.
Charandeep Singh, chief executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, told the capacity audience: “The work that you are doing as businesses in the Borders, and in creating this amazing network and supporting each other through the Chamber, is quite incredible.”
The winners included Eildon Housing Association (environmental impact award); Farne Salmon & Trout (large business of the year); Emtelle (innovation in business); Evolution BPS (developing young workforce business of the year); HomePhysio by Nicola (micro business of the year); Plexus Corp (manufacturing business of the year); Go Fibre (high growth business of the year); Unique Cottages (SME business of the year); The Homestead Café and Farm Shop (food and drink producer of the year); Pearsons of Duns (family business of the year); Fine Feathers (new business of the year); and Sea The Change (community impact award).
Borders Competitions picked up the Borders favourite business 2026 award: “It’s unbelievable!” said Jack Crowe, the Duns founder of the company.: “I had the idea three years ago to create an online competitions site that supported people here and brought money back to the Borders.
“I’m delighted that in that time so far we’ve been able to hand over £20m in prizes to people and £225,000 to local charities, schools and organisations.”
In January, SBCC launches its first trade mission, taking Borders business representatives to Scandinavia, to form new trade links.
Trevor said: “Celebrating what we do in this region is a huge part of the vision we have for growing the Borders economy, and another part of it is looking outward to strengthen the Borders’ voice and visibility globally.
“We are getting to the top tables with Scottish and UK governments, and shaping the
thinking locally of Scottish Borders Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, South of
Scotland Destination Alliance and many more.”
