Acclaimed international pastry chef, Maxine Scheckter, is joining Sam Heeney-Governo, owner and chef at cookery school and bakery, Love to Cook, in Crieff, for an evening devoted to the artistry of modern pâtisserie.
The event, which takes place on Saturday 16 May from 5-7pm, will include demonstrations of two of Maxine’s creations – her strawberry shortcake and Speculoos caramel petits gâteaux.
With a career spanning some of the world’s most celebrated kitchens, including The Fat Duck, in Bray, before founding Sugar Flour pastry school in Wellington, New Zealand, Maxine is renowned for combining classical pâtisserie with modern creativity:
“We are delighted to welcome Maxine to Love to Cook during her Scottish tour,” said Sam. “Her work is elegant, technically exceptional and deeply inspiring. It is a joy to host an evening celebrating pâtisserie as craft, creativity and shared pleasure.”
She added: “This collaboration feels like a natural one – a coming together of shared values around beautiful baking, thoughtful teaching and creating memorable food experiences.”
Alongside producing artisan breads, viennoiserie and pastries, Sam runs specialist cookery classes at Love to Cook, inspired by her Scottish-Portuguese heritage and years spent immersed in New Zealand’s vibrant food culture.
Maxine said: “I’m delighted to visit Crieff as part of my Scottish tour, and to collaborate with Sam in such a beautiful setting. This masterclass is about sharing the joy, precision and artistry of Pâtisserie with passionate bakers.”
Tickets cost £15 and include two pastries. There is also the opportunity to buy signed copies of Maxine’s book, Pâtisserie Made Simple
