New senior appointment at Edinburgh maritime-technology company

Maritime-technology company, Zelim, has strengthened its leadership team, appointing John Cumming, to help grow global market presence.
Zelim, which was founded in 2017, specialises in enhancing search, rescue and security operations at sea, using advanced AI systems.
As director of international business, John will lead the organisation’s focus on international market-expansion opportunities and strategic partnerships in the ferry, defence, superyacht and wider maritime industries.
John joins Zelim from Artemis Technologies, where he was responsible for business development, sales and product development. His background spans the corporate finance, ferry, defence and offshore services sectors, including 10 years’ service in the British Army, leading infantry and specialist teams.
John’s appointment marks the latest step in Zelim’s ongoing expansion, with its leadership team having doubled in size since 2023. The company has experienced significant success in recent months, including securing contracts with BC Ferries and a major offshore-energy operator and achieving ISO 21195:2020 certification for its ZOE man-overboard technology,
