My Edinburgh

Edinburgh is many things to many people – and here we share what Kimberley Smith, marketing manager at ESPC, particularly loves about our capital city.

What is your favourite part of Edinburgh?

We are so lucky to have the best of all worlds in Edinburgh, but I’m always drawn to the seaside and absolutely love Portobello. It’s the perfect place for a walk, run, catch up with friends or a dog walk. It really brings a sense of peace to the chaos of everyday life.

Where is your favourite place to eat in Edinburgh?

I love Edinburgh Street Food at the Omni Centre. The range of food vendors and the vibe make it feel so relaxed, with some of the best food options in Edinburgh. No matter what I get, I will always get a side of waffle fries from Chix.

What is your favourite place for a walk, a run or to play golf or sport in Edinburgh?

Some people might think I’m crazy, but you will regularly find me doing the Queen’s Drive loop at Arthur’s Seat for my Sunday long run. It is absolutely killer, but the views make it all worth it (once you have caught your breath). It’s a massive bonus that the road is shut at the weekend so there is so much space to enjoy the route with other runners, walkers and cyclists.

What's your favourite shop in Edinburgh?

I am a massive tea snob and love a loose-leaf tea. I recently found Rosevear Tea on Broughton Street and it is the place of dreams. There are hundreds of loose-leaf teas on offer and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Their peppermint whole-leaf tea is like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. I’m sure I could live off of it forever.

Where's the best place in Edinburgh on a sunny day?

A walk up Calton Hill to see the sunrise really sets me up for the day. It’s usually a little quieter at that time, and I’ll never get bored of the 360-degree views across the city and beyond. I usually spot something new every time.
