An Edinburgh restaurant has earned its place in the prestigious Michelin Guide.
Since its launch in 2018, as a tiny hole-in-the-wall canteen, Lucky Yu on Broughton Street has been bringing its own brand of irreverent, Asian-fusion cooking to Edinburgh’s culinary scene.
The restaurant now joins a list of restaurants in the Scottish capital to be recognised by Michelin for culinary excellence.
Lucky Yu’s menu offers gyoza, bao buns and a wide range of Asian-inspired small plates, as well as speciality dishes such as grilled sake and soy-cured monkfish tail with sambal salad pickled mooli. Restaurant favourites include roasted aubergines with a miso and sesame glaze; and barbecued pork with a house dandan sauce.
Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy everything from a white-chocolate blondie with miso cream and blood orange; and wild-rice and coconut pudding with mango, puffed rice and berries; as well as apple-pie gyoza. An Asian-inspired cocktail menu is also available.
Lucky Yu is owned and operated by the Òir Group, an independent, Edinburgh-based hospitality firm that operates four of the capital’s leading restaurants, including Uncle Tiger on Bristo Place, The Captain Darling in Stockbridge and Bodega on Leith Walk.
Commenting on Lucky Yu’s Michelin Guide success, Òir Group owner and director, John Howard said:
“After more than a decade running and developing restaurants, this is really significant milestone for The Òir Group and for Lucky Yu.
“Earning our place in the Michelin Guide is a huge achievement and testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire Lucky Yu team.
“We’d also like to thank all our customers and suppliers for their continued support over the last six years.”
