An online magazine for and about businesses of all sizes, in Edinburgh and beyond

A new, Edinburgh-based initiative, designed to support the confidence and emotional well-being of girls aged seven-16, is launching on 27 May.
Founded by local mum and former primary teacher Cheryl Lessels, subscription box, Happy Thoughts Squad, focuses on offering a creative, age-appropriate way for mums and daughters to connect and build emotional resilience together.
The inspiration for Happy Thoughts Squad came from Cheryl’s 22-year career in education and her personal experience as a mum supporting a daughter through childhood anxiety.
Cheryl said: “I saw too many girls lose confidence as they got older, and I lived the reality of watching my own daughter struggle with anxiety.
“Happy Thoughts Squad is about giving girls the tools to feel strong in themselves – and giving mums the support they need to help them.”
Each month, subscribers receive a box of contents tailored to their child’s age group –either seven–12 or 13–16. The boxes include a creative and emotionally-supportive-themed activity; a book; a conversation-starter card, along with a cookie and drink for both mum and daughter; a journal; and positive affirmations, as well as self-care treats and stationery.
Subscribers also gain access to a private online community of mums and a monthly video session with guidance on supporting girls’ mental health and confidence.
