Isle of Harris Distillery launches two new spirits
The Isle of Harris Distillery has launched two new spirits, available only at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, with more locations in the pipeline.
From 2 July, the Isle of Harris Tidal Strength gin and The Hearach Croft Strength single-malt Scotch whisky will be available to travellers passing through duty free at these three airports.
The Isle of Harris Tidal Strength offers a new experience of the gin, for the first time since its creation, in 2015. Increasing the alcohol content to 49.5 per cent ABV (alcohol by volume) has “elevated the botanical complexity of the spirit and enhanced its maritime character”, the distillery reported. The gin is infused with hand-harvested sugar kelp from local sea lochs.
The Hearach Croft Strength is a 52 per cent ABV ‘expression’ of the distillery’s single-malt Scotch. Lightly peated and free from artificial colouring, The Hearach Croft Strength is described as having a nose of “soft smoke, caramel, poached fruits and warming spices”.
Simon Erlanger, managing director at Isle of Harris Distillery, said:“These two new spirits reflect the strength and character of our island home. Whether it’s the crofts enduring Atlantic winds or the tidal forces shaping our shores, there’s a rugged charm here that we wanted to capture.
"With Croft Strength and Tidal Strength, we’re offering travellers a chance to experience the wilder, more elemental side of Isle of Harris spirits – perfect for gifting or enjoying at home.”
Isle of Harris Tidal Strength gin costs £35 and The Hearach Croft Strength is priced at £65.
