Edinburgh roofing firm shortlisted for national award

Edinburgh-based roofing firm, Hallmark Roofing, has been shortlisted in the Best Use of Heritage Roof category at the Pitched Roofing Awards 2026, recognising the company's specialist conservation roofing work on a historic property in North Berwick.
The family-run roofing company specialises in heritage and conservation work, with particular expertise in traditional Scottish slate roofing and leadwork.
The shortlisted North Berwick project involved the removal, repair and reinstatement of original Scotch slate, together with extensive traditional leadwork and structural roof repairs.
Where existing slate could be retained it was carefully reused, with reclaimed material introduced where required to maintain the character and appearance of the historic roof.
Modern breathable roofing technology was incorporated beneath the traditional roof covering to improve moisture management and long-term performance without compromising the appearance of the building.
Daryl Hall, managing director said: “We’re incredibly proud to have our work recognised at a national level, particularly for a project centred around preserving traditional Scottish roofing.
“There is a huge amount of skill involved in working with original Scotch slate and traditional leadwork. Our approach is always to retain as much of the historic fabric as possible while making sure the roof continues to perform for many years to come.
“For a small Edinburgh-based family business to be shortlisted alongside some excellent contractors from across the UK is a great recognition of the standard of work our team is producing.”
Hallmark Roofing also recently became an approved partner of Historic Environment Scotland.
The firm works on historic properties, listed buildings, churches, estates and traditional homes across Edinburgh and throughout Scotland.
The Pitched Roofing Awards celebrate workmanship, technical expertise and innovation across the UK roofing industry.
The awards ceremony takes place on Friday 20 November, at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. The host will be actor/comedian, Dominic Holland.
