Edinburgh Food and Drink Academy launches global-cuisine masterclasses

The Edinburgh Food and Drink Academy (EFDA) is launching a range of global-cuisine masterclasses, starting with a one-day course, ‘Flavours of Spain’, on Saturday 2 May.

This is to be followed by ‘Pasta Pronto’ on 6 May, ‘Thai Cuisines’ on 9 May, ‘Korean Street Food’ (13 May), ‘French Cuisine’ (16 May), ‘Tasty Tapas’ (19 May) and a shortbread masterclass on 24 May.

Caroline Lamont, EFDA director of culinary education said: “As chefs, our creativity in the kitchen blossoms when we travel to new locations and learn new techniques and flavour combinations. We have therefore created a range of classes which showcase the best of worldwide cuisine.

“From sparking new inspiration for existing chefs, to allowing home chefs to widen their recipe pool, we bring people together through the power of food. It’s the perfect way to ‘travel the world’, while learning new skills and making friends with a shared passion for cooking along the way.”

EFDA, previously known as the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School, is located on Queen Street, where it offers professional-chef courses and recreational courses for home chefs. Students and customers travel from as far afield as the US, to learn from EFDA’s chef team.

Its five-storey Georgian townhouse also provides event spaces for entrepreneurs as well as corporate team-building experiences, with an overall aim to create, connect and to elevate the food-and-drink industry.
