Crisp-making pop-up returns to Edinburgh

Golden Wonder, whose crisps were first created in Edinburgh’s Stockbridge, in 1947, by baker, William Alexander, is bringing its World of Wonder experience back to Scotland this September. The pop-up gives crisp lovers the opportunity to create a flavour that’s completely their own.

Following the success of its Glasgow pop-up earlier this month, the crisp brand, which sells a packet of crisps every three seconds in Scotland – is bringing its free interactive experience to Edinburgh’s Waverley Market on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September, from 9.30am-6.30pm.

Crisp lovers are invited to step into the World of Wonder, where Golden Wonder flavour experts will guide them in creating their own personalised crisp seasoning.

Their seasoning will then be used to make a bespoke bag of Golden Wonder crisps. Attendees will also be shown how to tumble their own crisps – a process which usually involves huge rotating drums to cover crisps in seasoning.

Along with their personalised packet of Golden Wonder crisps, visitors will take home a flavour pot of their own seasoning which they can use to pack their new favourite flavour into their everyday cooking.

“World of Wonder is all about having fun with flavour,” said Golden Wonder’s Phil Holford.

“We had such a brilliant response last year, we knew we had to bring it back – bigger, better and packed with the punchy flavour that Golden Wonder is known and loved for.

“We’re giving Scots the chance to get creative, experiment with different tastes and make something that’s completely their own, and we can’t wait to see what flavour combinations Edinburgh comes up with.”

Almost 80 years since they were first created, the Golden Wonder range of crisps now includes flavours such as spring onion and chip-shop curry.
