Edinburgh family business wins multiple awards
The Vittoria Group, which has seven restaurants in Edinburgh, attracted four accolades at the Scottish Italian Awards ceremony, in Glasgow on 1 December. The awards recognise the best of Italy in Scotland.
Warren Paul, chief executive of the event organisers, Paramount Creative, said: “Every year we bring together the very best of Italy right here in Scotland.
“Food, drink, hospitality, fun, family and that unmistakable touch of style are just some of the elements that make our finalists so special.”
Tony Crolla and his wife Angela built up the collection of restaurants in the Vittoria group, which are now run by their sons. Tony won the ‘lifetime achievement award’, Divino Enoteca won best restaurant in the east, Taste of Italy was awarded ‘best deli café’ and Berties was highly recommended for its fish and chips.
Commenting on the secret of the group’s success, Tony says: “It’s relentless hard work by all of us – the family and everyone in the restaurants.”
Considering dishes across all of the menus, Tony says the one he enjoys the most is the spaghetti carbonara at Divino Enoteca: “It’s made just as you would find it in the best restaurants in Rome,” he enthuses.
