Edinburgh bar announces £20,000 refurbishment plans
The owners of Pilgrim Bar, in Robertson’s Close, on the Cowgate, have announced plans to refurbish the bar next year, with around £20,000 earmarked for further improvements to the facilities.
This follows a £20,000 upgrade which took place over the summer, including an investment in all live sports channels, as well as redecoration and new furniture.
The owners also reported that the bar has experienced a 15 per cent growth in turnover over the past few years.
A new manager, Sam Leishman, who has 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, joined the business recently. Another four new hires are planned, as the festive season approaches.
Commenting on the forthcoming recruitment drive, Sam said: “I think it’s fantastic that this business can sustain a staff of 18 people, and that our owners are committed to continual investment.”
Daniel Harrison, one of Pilgrim’s trio of owners, said: “We are very lucky to have experienced and passionate people like Sam on board here at Pilgrim Bar.
“It’s not been the best of times for the licenced trade over the past few years, but we are showing that working together as a team, investing in your business and supporting your workforce, can make a success of it. Our plans are most definitely to grow within the capital.”
