Dales Marine Services launches international, mobile engineering service
Aberdeen-headquartered Dales Marine Services has launched an international mobile engineering service that sends its repair teams directly to vessels wherever clients need
them.
The development of the mobile engineering team builds on a service already offered by
the firm across Scotland and in the northeast of England, and the team has now successfully completed projects in Europe and Africa.
As part of the international offering, teams will cover dockings, afloat maintenance
periods, emergency repairs, mobilisation projects and complex engineering.
The launch is backed by investment in containerised workstations that double as power
units. Each houses a diesel generator, welding rigs, a compressor, consumables, cabling and tooling. The units can be mobilised at short notice and set down on a vessel’s back deck or a quayside. This is in addition to Dales Marine Services using local supply chains when necessary to source equipment and materials, improving speed and efficiency.
Kevin Paterson, chief executive: “Dales Marine Services has delivered bespoke marine-engineering services for more than 30 years at ports throughout Scotland and taking our expertise out to clients internationally is a natural next step.
“When a vessel needs a docking, an afloat maintenance period or an emergency repair,
what matters is getting the right people there quickly and doing the job safely, which is
something we’ve been doing for years.
"Expanding this offering with our mobile response teams lets us make fuller use of the skills already in our workforce as we support existing and new clients wherever they operate.”
The company has also recently strengthened its offshore wind capability after
members of its team completed specialist training programmes, including Global Wind
Organisation basic safety training, the internationally recognised standard for working safely in the sector.
Founded in 1987, Dales Marine Services operates dry-dock and fabrication facilities in Aberdeen, Leith, Greenock and Troon. Each year it supports more than 100 vessels in dry dock, carries out over 150 project mobilisations and demobilisations, and completes more than 500 afloat repairs across the UK and Europe.
