D&G Autocare has announced the opening of its 21st branch – D & G Autocare in Ayr.
The new branch, based in Heathfield Industrial Estate, offers the full range of D&G Autocare services, including Class 4 and Class 7 MOT testing and vehicle servicing and repairs, together with a tyre shop.
Manager, Scott Cameron, who is heading up the new outlet, said: “Heathfield Industrial Estate is the ideal location for us in Ayr, providing ample footfall, local facilities and through traffic to support the growth of this new branch as we bed into the local community.
“We’ve now surpassed our original target of 20 garages within 20 years, which we achieved last year with the launch of our Cumbernauld branch,” explained Scott, who joined D&G in 2018 as a technician, before developing his experience and leadership skills to enter the management side of the business.
D&G also has a garage in Rutherglen, with another three covering Lanarkshire, as well as garages in Fife, Edinburgh, West Lothian, Perth, Stirling and Tayside. In England, D&G in Carlisle opened in August 2024:
“We’ll be initially employing six technicians here in Ayr,” said Scott: “While there will not be an apprentice in place from day one, creating apprenticeship opportunities is certainly part of our plans for the site, as we have a very successful apprenticeship scheme in place across the group.”
Scott highlighted additional services available at the Ayr garage, including fleet vehicle maintenance and servicing, alongside repairs and maintenance for petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles:
“Electric vehicles are now becoming something we see multiple times a day,” he said: “The training we give our team members means they are ready to support our customers no matter what the issue is.”
Scott explained that each new outlet D&G opens represents a £200,000 investment, to cover everything from building preparation to vehicle lifts, IT equipment, diagnostic machines and equipping the MOT test bay. It also provides speciality equipment such as that needed for air-conditioning systems.
He concluded: “There are a mixture of national chains and independent garages here. While there are several established operators in the area, we believe D&G Autocare stands out through the breadth of services we provide, our investment in modern technology and our strong focus on friendly, customer-focused service.”
