Edinburgh breast-cancer charity, The House of Hope, has announced the appointment of Katrina Muir, as partnerships and relationships lead.
The charity, which has a team of six, as well as a dedicated group of volunteers, provides support and expert resources for people diagnosed with breast cancer.
Katrina has 25 years’ experience in the PR and communications industry, including working in leading PR agencies in London and Scotland, across a range of consumer, corporate and third-sector clients.
She said: "I am delighted to join the team at The House of Hope. I was really drawn to its ethos and ambition, and the excellent work the charity is doing to help people impacted by breast cancer. I'm looking forward to building corporate partnerships and maintaining strong relationships to increase the visibility for The House of Hope."
Lisa Fleming, the charity’s founder and chief executive said: "We are thrilled to welcome Katrina to The House of Hope. With her extensive career in PR and media, she brings a wealth of experience that will be invaluable in amplifying our mission. Her passion for supporting those impacted by breast cancer aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a nurturing environment our community and their families.
“In the third sector, partnerships are crucial, and Katrina’s expertise will help us forge meaningful connections that enhance our services and broaden our reach. Together, we will strengthen our community and ensure that everyone impacted by breast cancer who attends The House of Hope receives the funded support they need during their diagnosis."
The House of Hope opened its doors in June 2025 and is planning a number of fundraising events to celebrate its first anniversary. These include a ‘1k Your Way’ event, which encourages supporters to do a 1k every day for 30 days in June any way they like, whether by running, walking, cycling or rowing, to raise money to support people impacted by breast cancer.
Other forthcoming events include a Bands 4 Hope fundraising gig at Cold Town House on 9 May, featuring local bands; the gala ball in September; and on 9 October, the charity will mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month with ‘The Big Variety Benefit' at Church Hill Theatre, featuring The House of Hope’s ‘Strength in Song’ choir and other local talent.
