Malmaison

Malmaison has not just one but two stylish hotels in Edinburgh: one in the city centre, on St Andrew Square, and another in Leith, one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world, according to Time Out. â€‹

As well as their elegant and comfortable rooms, and restaurants offering modern-British, brasserie-style dishes, Malmaison hotels cater for special occasions such as weddings and graduations.

Private dining is a speciality too: a wide range of menus is available, with the choice of canapes, bowl-based dishes, buffets, sharing platters and snacks, as well as an ‘indulgence’ version.

Each hotel has a fascinating history - Malmaison Edinburgh City was previously the home of Lord Brougham, the 11th Earl of Buchan, who was an MP and a Lord Chancellor in the early 1800s, and rector of University of Edinburgh. Another notable resident, Dr Joseph Bell, was the inspiration for Sherlock Holmes: author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle met Dr Bell while studying medicine at the university.

The Leith Malmaison building was first opened by Lord Rosebery, UK prime minister between 1894-5, in 1885, but not as a hotel. It was originally a home for sailors and could accommodate over 100 seafarers.  The building then lay empty for a while until renowned hotelier Ken McCulloch transformed it, creating the very first Malmaison.

Nowadays, both hotels provide the perfect base for visitors to the city, and ideal venues both for guest celebrations and businesses seeking chic and professional event and meeting spaces. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

The Dome

Located in the heart of Edinburgh's Georgian New Town, The Dome incorporates four conference rooms and two private-dining suites, as well as its famous bars and restaurants. â€‹

The former banking hall, The Grill Room, has been meticulously preserved, retaining all the original Georgian architecture. Edinburgh's most grand brasserie, The Grill Room, serves our timeless à la carte menu.

Afternoon tea at The Dome is a firm favourite with locals and a must-do if visiting the city. Featuring classic sandwiches; scones and tea cakes on silver stands; silver tea pots; and crisp white linen, a Dome afternoon tea is one of life's easily-affordable luxuries.

The Dome's event facilities provide relaxing and comfortable surroundings for a variety of events including seminars, conferences, training courses and product launches. Its purpose-designed spaces accommodate meetings of two delegates, up to AGM conferences, seating 50 delegates.

The private-dining spaces provide luxurious surroundings for lunches and dinners; wedding meals and civil-partnership celebrations. A range of menu options is available, paired with an excellent wine list and a premium range of drink options.

The Dome’s online Christmas shop is now open, offering shoppers the chance to buy Dome-themed gifts, including Dome gin, a festive enamel cup and wax melts, as well as a Christmas-tree ornament and Christmas cards featuring the Dome.
