Malones Leith to host rock, paper, scissors tournament
Malones Leith, an Irish bar known for its live music, community spirit and creative events, is teaming up with Goose’s Quizzes to host ‘The Ultimate Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament’ on Saturday 20 September, at 2.30pm.
Malones describes the event as “a fast-paced, knockout-style competition, promising big laughs, fierce rivalries, and a £50 bar tab for the winner.”
Malones added that while official league tournaments have been hosted around the world since 2015, this is thought to be Edinburgh’s first-ever unofficial tournament.
Everyone is welcome to join the tournament, whether they know the game well or have never played before. It will take the form of 32 entrants battling it out in best-of-three matches, culminating in a grand final:
“We wanted to create something that’s equal parts ridiculous and brilliant,” said Charlie
Douglas, general manager of Malones Leith: “Rock, paper, scissors is universally known, and when you add a crowd, a prize, and a few pints, it becomes pure entertainment.”
Goose’s Quizzes, who run the venue’s Monday quiz nights, will be adding their
signature flair to the event, bringing sharp wit, dramatic commentary, and just the right amount of chaos to keep competitors on their toes.
This event is part of Malones Leith’s ongoing action to bring fresh, community-driven
experiences to the venue and to The Shore.
Entry to the event costs £3 and places are limited. Spectators are welcome, but only ticket holders can compete. The event will run until 5pm.
