Dobbies Garden Centre in Edinburgh has opened ‘The Pet Shop’ at its store, to cater for the growing number of dog lovers in the city. It has also increased capacity at its yearly sell-out event, the ‘Santa Paws’ experience, to help meet anticipated demand.

The Pet Shop features an expanded product range of pet clothing, accessories and toys, with the introduction of brands such as Joules and FatFace, as well as offering puppy training and travel and health products.

It also provides a new pick ‘n’ mix counter; The Barking Bakery with dog-friendly cupcakes; and Ruffingtons’ artisanal dog doughnuts and eclairs, along with a selection of dried dog food and frozen products.

Dogs are welcome to come in and see The Pet Store for themselves and then enjoy a treat in a dedicated area of the restaurant. There is also a spot at The Pet Shop, with a seasonal backdrop, where dogs can ‘paws’ for a selfie. Human customers can take part in Dobbies’ monthly social-media competition, 'Dogs at Dobbies', by posting a picture and using the hashtag #dogsatdobbies for the chance to win a gift voucher.

Dobbies’ general manager at the Edinburgh store, Jenna Bavidge said: “Our love for dogs continues to grow and more than ever people are dedicating both time and money to pampering their pets. We’ve seen a noticeable shift in shopping habits at our Edinburgh store, and we’re thrilled to have expanded and developed our ranges to meet this rising demand.”
