An online magazine for and about small businesses, micro businesses, sole traders, freelancers - and bigger businesses
Edinburgh-based beer club, Beer52 has launched Whisky52, a subscription-based whisky club. The new venture is “dedicated to helping whisky lovers discover the world’s most interesting distilleries.”
Each month, Whisky 52 subscribers will receive a release from a different distillery, providing them with access to whisky not available anywhere else:
“Whisky52 sets out to take whisky fans on a global journey, introducing not only iconic Scottish distilleries but also hidden gems from places like Sweden and beyond,” said John Roberston, managing director of Whisky52.
Each Whisky52 box will contain an exclusive 35cl bottle. The inaugural release features a 10-year-old, bourbon-and-port-cask-finished whisky from Tullibardine Distillery. The second release will be coming from Agitator Distillery, in the form of a Swedish single malt aged in orange-wine and brandy casks, and which will deliver “hints of sherry sweetness, orange blossom and caramelised sugars.”
Included in the monthly price of £35 is a copy of Stramash magazine, Whisky52’s in-house publication, which includes information on tasting notes and insights into whisky flavour profiles and the ageing process.
Beer52, founded in 2013, now has more than 100,000 members. It launched a similar business, Wine52, in 2021.
It reported that more than 2.5 million households in the UK have made a purchase from Beer52 and Wine52.
