Next Founders Live Edinburgh event in January

Matthew Cameron, founder and chief executive of TMC Agency has announced that he’ll be hosting the next Founders Live event for start-ups on 16 January, and that the main sponsor will be EQ Accountants.

The previous event, in October, attracted 94 attendees.

Matthew said: “Founders Live is for the doers, dreamers, and believers. At our last event, 50 per cent of the crowd were founders, 10 per cent investors and the rest were vendors, supporters and fans of innovation.”

The format of the event is that five business founders each get 99 seconds to pitch, followed by a four-minute Q&A session with the audience. The crowd then votes for the winner.

The event, which is free to attend, takes place at CodeBase, on Castle Terrace. It starts at  5.30pm and runs till 8.30pm. There’s an hour of networking first, then an hour of pitching, followed by more networking to round off the evening.  Free pizza and a range of drinks – alcoholic and non-alcoholic – will be available throughout the event.

Commenting on what makes the event successful, Matthew said: “Founders Live isn’t just another pitching event. It’s about meeting like-minded people, soaking up the energy and walking away feeling inspired. Being a founder can be lonely, but this community reminds you that you’re not doing it alone.”

He added: “It’s about connecting leaders who are shaping the future and helping them think boldly about what kind of businesses they want to build.”

More events are planned after January, to take place in April, July and October: “If demand keeps growing – and I think it will – we might need to add even more,” Matthew concluded.
